Are you a Democrat interested in public service and championing the needs of our students? Now more than ever, our students need leaders like you to run for office! Since 2015, we’ve equipped over 100 Democrats with the tools and resources to run winning campaigns.
Our proven track record of shaping elected leadership includes supporting 24 candidates for DC State Board of Education, Mayor, and Council. This year, we’ve trained over one-third of Democrats on the June Primary ballot vying for a seat on the DC Council.

Running for public office is never an easy decision. It requires a commitment to ensuring that the DC government serves those who’ve been historically marginalized and the tenacity to endure the highs and lows of political life.

Electing Education Reform Champions
DFER DC endorses Democrats running for public office every election cycle and uses every tool possible to help them win and deliver student-first legislative victories. To be considered for endorsement, all candidates must align with all of our student-centered values, demonstrate a clear path to victory, and have a record of leadership in the community.
